About the Event
Violence against women and girls is a devastating and widespread human rights violation in our world today. Due to
stigma and shame, a lot of it goes unreported. We see it in:
• Intimate partner violence- beatings, marital rape, killings
• Sexual violence and harassment – unwanted sexual advances, child sexual abuse, stalking, etc.
• Human trafficking; child marriage; genital mutilation
One of CWN’s activities to mark this period is Screening of Film: The Light of Day
Life stories and powerful inspirational words by women of African origin who have regained control over their lives after suffering domestic violence. Light lunch to follow.
